Swimming Week 1.

So where to begin, since my last blog, my mom and stepdad and I, have all registered for the Great British Swim in the Thames in London on the 3rd of July 2010. My main reason behind taking part in this challenge, is 1. to get fit, 2. for the sense of achievement, and 3. to raise money for Cancer Research.

I've chosen to raise money for this charity as my nan died of cancer in July of 2009, and I believe it's a very worthy charity.

RIGHT THEN.

Last night at exactly 8pm, we dived into our local pool. I'll admit, I hadn't swam properly in a long while, so no matter what I did, I knew I'd be 'jelly legged' at the end of it. It reached 8.10pm and I was on my 8th length. Doing breastroke began to take it's toll, especially not pushing off from the sides of the pool, but I guess if we're going to do this properly...so I decided front crawl would be a lot easier if I was going to carry on.

By 8.30pm I'd reached 26 lengths, which is just under half a mile. I pushed myself to go faster as I knew that when it comes down to the race, I'd be dissapointed if I didn't go at a good pace.

SO TONIGHT, my target is to reach 30 lengths (half a mile), not touching the sides, the bottom, or anything else.

TRAINING HAS OFFICIALLY GOT SERIOUS!

Sunday, Week 1 - Diet.

So it's mid-January.

My new years diet has started later than expected, but it's going brilliantly so far..
This week I lost 3 pounds just from no snacking and low calorie food (and smaller portions).

NO EXERCISE! i'm shocked i really am.

But you wouldn't believe how much i've been craving cheese! its one of the worst fattening foods to eat, but my god, it's difficult to avoid that stuff!

I also have a fiendish idea for a surprise for my best friend in New York, so that's getting sent off to her soon (fingers crossed).
Speaking of New York, I need to use these blogs as a record of how many £££'s i'm saving for December. I know it's about 11 months away, but i really need to start saving as much as possible. I would love to go there and just spend without looking at prices - a true sign you've saved plenty of cash!

SO bloggers! .... what are you saving for and why? is there anything you REALLY want to buy? or just a spree? perhaps you want to buy something for someone?

Setting The Scene...

Hello! I'm Ella, I'm 17 years old and I'm at Stafford college studying Photography (BTEC National Diploma). I currently live with my mum and step dad, and after college I wish to take a gap year in the US, and if I get a decent job while I'm over there, my dream is to live over there when I can afford an appartment etc. I have two older sisters, (22 & 20) and they are both marrying their partners this year and 2011 and I'm so happy for them. I have a dog called Dill, and a cat called Scrabble!

I've decided to create a blogging account so that I'm able to document anything I feel passionate about, and so that I can share my enthusiasms and common interests with other people that blog. However, I don't intend on making my blog spot a huge 'rantathon', because I get annoyed at reading others, so I shall do my best at keeping moaning and whining and ranting to a minimum.

Feel free to leave a comment or suggestion for my next post, I have some ideas already but don't hesitate in suggesting!
