Swimming Week 1.

So where to begin, since my last blog, my mom and stepdad and I, have all registered for the Great British Swim in the Thames in London on the 3rd of July 2010. My main reason behind taking part in this challenge, is 1. to get fit, 2. for the sense of achievement, and 3. to raise money for Cancer Research.

I've chosen to raise money for this charity as my nan died of cancer in July of 2009, and I believe it's a very worthy charity.

RIGHT THEN.

Last night at exactly 8pm, we dived into our local pool. I'll admit, I hadn't swam properly in a long while, so no matter what I did, I knew I'd be 'jelly legged' at the end of it. It reached 8.10pm and I was on my 8th length. Doing breastroke began to take it's toll, especially not pushing off from the sides of the pool, but I guess if we're going to do this properly...so I decided front crawl would be a lot easier if I was going to carry on.

By 8.30pm I'd reached 26 lengths, which is just under half a mile. I pushed myself to go faster as I knew that when it comes down to the race, I'd be dissapointed if I didn't go at a good pace.

SO TONIGHT, my target is to reach 30 lengths (half a mile), not touching the sides, the bottom, or anything else.

TRAINING HAS OFFICIALLY GOT SERIOUS!
